A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes

I've been dreaming about working for Disney, or being part of the team, since I found out that was something that existed.  I've decided to live a little, and not have to know how things are going to work out with school, but to apply for an internship. (All it takes is faith and trust-Peter Pan)  I don't need it for Grad credits.  I really want to do it and would love it on my resume.  I'm excited for the things I could learn and the people I could meet.

Disney College Program

I was hoping to get into the Disney College program.  I didn't get in. I will apply again in 6 months.  Six months is a long time.  I am going to continue building my resume and networking.  Does anyone have tips on  getting through the web interview?  I've heard be consistent, use a PC and don't rush it.

Linkedin

I've been posting a lot on linkedin today.  I believe anyone in a professional field should get one.  I use it to keep updated on what is going on in my field, what my competition, coworkers or possible future employers are up to.  I've learned a few tricks.  I've also been able to apply a little bit of my knowledge from classes by commenting on articles and evaluating and giving feedback to other's work.

A Slightly Unsettling Notion....Every Time

I have once again realized that I am in almost no way prepared for "the real world."
This concept has frightened me since I was younger, but as the time nears I find that although I continue to acquire new skills, I am altogether unqualified for anything I might attempt.

I don't have the knowledge to enter any new fields.
(I thought that is what college was supposed to prepare you for.)
I suppose I shall have to work harder outside of my regular courses to find the experiences that will prepare me for "life in the jungles of reality."

WHEN WILL I EVER USE THIS?!?!

It is amazing how relevant my major is in my life!  I get to utilize skills I learn just fiddling with my computer, using Power Points, making videos, news breifs, and other skills.

Right now I am really excited about what I am learning in my Developing World class.
I am learning about Indonesia specifically, and how development affects it.  We are learning about world poverty and what different cultures are trying to do about it.

We are focusing on current events and I am learning about the floods that are currently engulfing the nation.

I am also learning about the procedures of an advertising agency as I put it into practice in the I-comm agency.  We are working on a campaign for the Police and the School Library.

So, basically my life is crazy but I am enjoying it thoroughly. (Once my head stops spinning.)

"Family" dinner (♪Tradition!♪)

So my room mates and I have created a tradition for Sunday night dinner.  We have a "family dinner."  Every week we have Taco Sunday.  This started when we wanted to do something together, but one of my room mates had Celiac disease (which means you can't have gluten, most common in wheat).  You would be surprised all the things people with celiac can't eat.

So instead of having to reinvent an edible dinner every week, we came up with tacos, because with corn tortillas it is completely gluten free, and really yummy.

(It helped that the first week i made tacos since my mom had taught me how.  Put the idea in their head i guess :D)

Now we split up the jobs, every week i fry the tortillas because of all of us i am the best at that specific job, and Michaela usually makes the meat and Amanda cuts the vegitables.

I'm also really lucky because they are willing to pitch in on groceries, so we switch off each week who gets what.

Well recently we've been inviting friends and it's gotten pretty huge.  We've started asking friends to bring ingredients.

My Favorite taco memories this semester:
Exploding salsa!
my roomie forgot to check if the salsa lid was on before she shook it so it landed all over me, and even in her hair!

Vegan Taco!
My ex-roomate's boyfriend put a lot of meat on his taco (so much it was fallin out in heaps), and my other room mate's boyfriend made a sarcastic aside about him not having enough meat, and being vegan.  It was hilarious!

Silly Songs!
I was a bit loopy that day, and kinda hyper (awesome combo) so i started making up random silly songs about tacos, warrenting many weird looks from my room mate, and lots of giggles.

I believe that it is taco night that brings us closer together and keeps us on good terms with eachother.  I have noticed that the room mates that don't participate, don't become as close because they miss a load of bonding time.  I think I'll keep sunday dinner when i have my own home and family. ...When the time eventially comes.
