Looking out each open door

As a college student it is natural for me to be looking into what i want to do with the rest of my life.  I have come up with some different ideas.

But more recently i have come to realize that i could do ANYTHING I WANT if i were to put my mind to it.

Doors are open wide and I am looking around for the best one. (reminds me of a scene from monster's inc.)

It is going to take some insight and ingenuity but I think with a little work i can do anything i put my mind to!

Epiphanies!

what a silly thing, earlier the rain finally broke down my pride enough that i was willing to be seen in the dreadfull bulky coat just to be deliciously warm,  and funnily enough i got MORE flirtatious stares from guys, wearing this monstrously huge coat and sweat pants.  Lets just say i was a bit pleasantly surprised.

It has also recently occured to me that i have become more and more like the people i most admire, because i strive to develop similar traits.

It is a weird idea that someone might admire me the same way i admire certain people.

Especially when contemplating it in the sense of high school mentors and then the younger kids i spent time with.

"Family" dinner (♪Tradition!♪)

So my room mates and I have created a tradition for Sunday night dinner.  We have a "family dinner."  Every week we have Taco Sunday.  This started when we wanted to do something together, but one of my room mates had Celiac disease (which means you can't have gluten, most common in wheat).  You would be surprised all the things people with celiac can't eat.

So instead of having to reinvent an edible dinner every week, we came up with tacos, because with corn tortillas it is completely gluten free, and really yummy.

(It helped that the first week i made tacos since my mom had taught me how.  Put the idea in their head i guess :D)

Now we split up the jobs, every week i fry the tortillas because of all of us i am the best at that specific job, and Michaela usually makes the meat and Amanda cuts the vegitables.

I'm also really lucky because they are willing to pitch in on groceries, so we switch off each week who gets what.

Well recently we've been inviting friends and it's gotten pretty huge.  We've started asking friends to bring ingredients.

My Favorite taco memories this semester:
Exploding salsa!
my roomie forgot to check if the salsa lid was on before she shook it so it landed all over me, and even in her hair!

Vegan Taco!
My ex-roomate's boyfriend put a lot of meat on his taco (so much it was fallin out in heaps), and my other room mate's boyfriend made a sarcastic aside about him not having enough meat, and being vegan.  It was hilarious!

Silly Songs!
I was a bit loopy that day, and kinda hyper (awesome combo) so i started making up random silly songs about tacos, warrenting many weird looks from my room mate, and lots of giggles.

I believe that it is taco night that brings us closer together and keeps us on good terms with eachother.  I have noticed that the room mates that don't participate, don't become as close because they miss a load of bonding time.  I think I'll keep sunday dinner when i have my own home and family. ...When the time eventially comes.

Compliments

Most people realize to some extent how words can affect people.  One phrase can tear down or build up a vulnerable person.  For sure it can make or break a day.

One day I decided my friends needed to know just how beautifull they are.  So i proceded to tell them every chance i got.  It was awkward at first but not unbearably so.  Now it is normal.  I am pleased with every smile i can create.

One thin I did not expect to find is that as I compliment others, more seem to be compelled to compliment me back.  As if every one is waiting to express what they feel, but are waiting for the "OK."

Today i was singing as I walked along between classes, and a girl did something that i found extrordinary.  She asked what I was singing, walked along side me and asked if i would keep singing because i had "a really pretty voice, and i want to listen to you sing."  I  was stunned and touched.

I have always wished that i had a voice that "turns heads"  so even the simple motion of a head turn can mean a lot.

Actions can speak louder than words, in a sense some actions are compliments.

They say "you are worth my time"
For example, a couple days ago I went to go get my alundry out of the dryer, only to find them already folded with a sticky note that said "love mom :) "  It brought me to tears because I had recently been sick, and being at college, away from my mom, I was thinking a lot about how she used to care for me when i was sick.  This gesture was so tiny for someone to do, but so HUGE to me.  It made me feel special, and important.

I had some friends at camp whoat lunch would go around with a colorful sign saying "free compliments" and as people would walk by they would find real things they could compliment about them.
They made so many people's day!

Thank you all you considerate people out there!
